Location, location, location!

Three words to live by when choosing a location for a restaurant. Our three current locations are situated in some of the most vibrant and exciting neighbourhoods in the Greater Vancouver Area including Olympic Village, Coal Harbor and Lower Lonsdale.

Olympic Village Convention Centre Shipyards

Lower Lonsdale

Located at the foot of Lower Lonsdale, Tap & Barrel Shipyards is our newest flagship location. With its two patios – and a third opening Summer 2016, the restaurant has over 700 seats making it the biggest in Western Canada. There are two large mezzanines perfect for private dining and special events. Whether you’re sitting inside or outside, you’ll enjoy breathtaking views of the Burrard Inlet and downtown Vancouver.

On the Plate

Our chef worked tirelessly to create a menu that pairs comfort food with an epicurean twist. The menu – designed with taste, presentation and value in mind, also offers many gluten free, vegetarian and lighter menu options, along with weekend brunch and a great kids menu. Order Take Away for your office or leave the cooking to us and take it home.

Supporting local purveyors is part of being a good neighbour. We source sustainable ingredients directly from local growers, suppliers and merchants - using organic ingredients whenever possible.

Our commitment to creating our food from scratch is also paramount to our food philosophy. From the tartar sauce to the craft beer cheddar sauce, to the red wine and onion gravy our cooks make these ingredients daily to help us create dishes that taste authentic and not out of the box.

Ask your server for suggestions or ask what their fave dishes are. They can also help you navigate the menu if you are looking for items to meet your dietary needs.

Whether stopping by for a business lunch, after work appies or a cozy dinner date, we’ve got something delicious that will satisfy each and every visit. Mmmm enjoy!

Wine on Tap

Tap & Barrel recently won a honourable mention for best wine list at the Vancouver International Wine Festival, an award previously only given to restaurants with bottle lists – making it the first on-tap win, a big step forward. We have also won awards for Best Restaurant BC Wine List in the Georgia Straight Best of Van and Golden Plate Awards.

“From barrel to bar, we work with BC’s growing craft community to bring you the freshest selection of BC’s best wine…. all ON TAP. Our unparalleled line-up of custom collaborations, exclusive pours, and seasonal flavours is the closest thing to drinking straight from the source. We are the pioneers of BC on tap!”

– David Stansfield, Resident Sommelier / Wine Geek

About Wine-On-Tap

Beer on Tap

Our Beverage Manager, Ryan Craig works closely with BC’s best breweries to bring our guests unique beer lists at each of our locations. Each list is accompanied by a rotating tap sheet, which changes frequently according to beer trends and seasonal preferences. Many are custom small-batch beers that can’t be found anywhere else.

Look for items with a Tap & Barrel crest beside them as they are made EXCLUSIVELY for us!

Environment & Sustainability

We celebrate everything that is local and push the barriers on innovation and environmental stewardship. Our restaurants have set new environmental standards in the industry.

By using locally produced products, we commit to reducing our carbon footprint. Our food, wine and beer come from around the province and are not trucked in from the other side of the continent. Our guests appreciate that not only are they part of a greener solution, but they are consuming the freshest product possible.

Our custom tapping systems eliminate the need for bottling and packaging. In fact, for every barrel of wine that we buy, we eliminate 300 bottles, along with printing labels, boxing, shipping, and so forth. Last year alone, we eliminated the need for over 2,500 cases of wine from being produced – that is well over 30,000 bottles of wine! We are happy to share that we have saved the environment well over 50,000 wine bottles since our birth less than two years ago.

Our Story

“What we are all about – our passion about all things local, ON TAP, food from scratch, providing the best service and experience ever, bar none – going the mile for our team and our guests, taking hospitality to a different level!” – Daniel Frankel

Welcome to Tap & Barrel - the heart of the neighbourhood. We are a Vancouver owned Gastrotaphouse serving BC’s finest selection of local craft beer and premium wine on tap alongside a menu prepared from scratch using locally sourced comfort food.

Our mission is to create a memorable, genuine, and happy experiences by indulging our guests with awesome service and small touches that build deep loyalty and foster repeat visits. We have a strong commitment and passion for our products and enjoy passing on unmatched value.

Tap & Barrel is at heart a neighbourhood gathering place with a destination draw – our locations are fun, social, dynamic and community driven. We thrive on being part of local events and celebrations; we strive to do our part and give back to the communities that have given us so much. Our current Tap & Barrel locations are situated amongst large public plazas and as such, we have enjoyed taking part in the various events held in these large outdoor spaces. We love to have fun – but for us, it is our guest’s enjoyment that makes it all worthwhile – we want to be the best neighbour!

The Daniel Hospitality Group began as one small coffee shop in the Coal Harbour Community Centre in 2001. Serving fresh baked treats, handmade sandwiches, a wide selection of fresh juices and coffees and hand-scooped ice cream. It is here that our passion for locally sourced, produced and grown food and beverages began. Our focus on everything sustainable and fresh, we believe, sets us apart from the others.

After the successful opening of our coffee shop, we took over operations at The Prospect Point Café & Gift Shop in Stanley Park in early 2002. This historical landmark location, situated at the highest point in the world famous Stanley Park has been attracting locals and tourists for decades! We injected our enthusiasm and talent into the business – providing our guests with a uniquely west coast experience.

Summer 2003 saw the Daniel Hospitality Group opening up a new concept restaurant called The Mill Marine Bistro – located in Harbour Green Park in Coal Harbour. This small but busy restaurant has won several “Best Patio” accolades – as the patio at “The Mill” proudly seats over 250 people on the Coal Harbour Seawall. This restaurant is all about the outdoors - we make the most of our outstanding natural surroundings and our guests love sitting both inside and out!

In late 2004 DHG took over operations at The Stanley Park Pavilion – another landmark location, but this time in need of a facelift. DHG closed the operation for several months and re-opened just in time for summer 2005 with a fresh and radiant facility. Hosting events for everyone from British to Hollywood royalty, The Stanley Park Pavilion is a beautiful venue in the centre of this urban oasis. Weddings, special events and casual park dining all in one location – another great DHG concept.

In 2009, DHG opened another concept restaurant underneath one of Vancouver’s most unique bridges – the Burrard Bridge. The Burrard Bridge Bar & Grill (also affectionately known to the locals as "The Pirate Pub") is directly on the English Bay seawall at the entrance to False Creek – giving our waterfront patio gorgeous views of False Creek, Granville Island and English Bay. The menu is concise and pairs well with our thoughtful beer and wine menu. As with all of our restaurants, we strive to keep all of our menu items from locally sourced purveyors.
